W-2 Wednesday: Reporting nonqualified deferred compensation

You can’t legally defer compensation from one year into another year. Contributions into 401(k) accounts and rollovers of unused health FSA benefits are the two exceptions. Nonqualified deferred compensation plans, however, allow employees to defer compensation into subsequent years.
